After the girls napped we headed back to school for a father’s day party.  When I got there I learned that Margo would be singing a song with her classmates.

Here she is getting in to character, the song is called “Como mi Papa” which me means “like my dad” so here she is!

The older girls did a dance, but I missed most of it since Thelma had to use the washroom and then Margo.  You know how it goes… but I did get one photo!

After the performances there was games, music and food!  It was a blast.

Although Thelma was happy to simply play in the rain!

The only thing that would have made it better was if Matt could have been there!  But he did get this super cool gift…

Which I opened to see what it was… naturally!

It just might be the cutest father’s day gift to-date!

And to prove I haven’t given up sewing, here is a little sneak preview of what I made for my nephew’s birthday coming up….

It required making my own bias tape!!   I am hoping to get some picture up soon of the finished product.

Margo’s school has been making a pretty big deal about Father’s day.  There will be a Father’s day party at school on Tuesday, and because of this Margo was very excited to do something special for her Dad.

So yesterday we pulled out the paint and made this cute footprint heart.  They both loved it.  Of course who wouldn’t?  It was like a day at the spa!  First they got their feet painted by soft paint brushes, then they soaked their feet in warm soapy water followed by a pedicure just for fun!

Then today we took the craft to the beach to take a pictures but I ended up liking how beautiful the trail was on the way!

And this video is just for you Matt!  You have two little girls who love having you as their Dad.  We love you!!

Margo and Thelma’s father’s day gift

This is a father daughter picture that I love!

And this is a photo I stole from my Aunt’s facebook!  I have such fond memories of story time with my dad.  Obviously I am too young in this picture to remember this, but it reminds me of cuddling with my dad and listening to the comforting sound of his voice as he read us all sorts of tales.  And when he worked afternoons he went as far as recording himself reading the Narnia series so we could read a story with him even when he wasn’t there.

I love my Dad!  And it is so much fun to watch my girls loving their dad!

After spending all day at the border of Nicaragua (note the hair!) there is nothing quite like a McDonald’s ice cream cone!!

Over these past couple weeks there has been a lot going on in Grande.  There was the closing party for the wonderful Mamasa Resturant.

And of course Kid’s club was on the beach last week and it was wonderful and relaxing!

Not to mention all the unpacking and cleaning that goes with moving.  Blah!

One of the things I love about this new place is the lovely key lime tree and guava tree on the property.  I love the idea of growing some more plants and my dear friend Jamie brought over some thyme and rosemary for my new place.  If we add that to my pineapple and aloe vera plant, I am doing pretty good!  Lately I have been getting really excited about growing a veggie and fruit garden and using the fresh produce in my everyday cooking.  But I have to start somewhere, so I think it is going to be with a key lime pie!

Last night I spent much of my day sewing (or attempting to sew).  My machine has been giving me a lot of trouble, but with some patience and a bit of determination, I might actually get something done!  But we had an early dinner and I decided last minute to take the girls down to watch the sunset.  Thelma has been persistently refusing to go in the water for about 8 months now, so I dressed Margo and Thelma in matching dresses and expected them to play in the sand and watch the sun set.

When Thelma saw the water, she pointed at it and shouted “pool!”  She ran in and we played in the surf, water creeping up her dress.  I couldn’t believe I didn’t have a camera to take pictures as she laughed and ran around playing in the water!  All in the most adorable dress.  It was such a sweet moment and the three of us played until the sunset.   A truly wonderful night.  I suppose it is not too hard to see why I have fallen in love with Playa Grande!

For Kid’s Club we went down a trail I had never seen before to the salt marsh.  Here are some pictures below.

It was so beautiful

I learned something new about this plant.  The ants live in the spikes, so if you brush up against the plant you had better watch out!!  They have a very painful bite.  So the plant provides a home for the ants and the ants protect the plant.  Nature is pretty awesome!

We even saw our first ant eater.  I didn’t get a good picture at all, but it was awesome to see!

I found them like this when I went to tell them dinner was ready!
